Leibniz University Hannover (LUH), with around 25,000 students, is one of the largest universities in Lower Saxony. More than 3,200 researchers work across 150 institutes. Founded in 1831 with a traditional focus on engineering, LUH today combines cutting-edge research in STEM subjects with a strong focus on the humanities, cultural sciences and social sciences. These fields are highly research-intensive and address interdisciplinary questions in order to create the foundations for tackling societal challenges.

With the research building Forum Wissenschaftsreflexion, LUH is home to one of the few new humanities research facilities in Germany. This is where the humanities and social sciences activities of the research cluster Wissenschaftsreflexion (reflection of science) are concentrated. The focus is on questions concerning the social, epistemological and cultural conditions of science – with the aim of further developing the internationally recognised research cluster at LUH into a European centre for science and higher education research.

LUH offers ideal conditions for international researchers. They benefit from an excellent research environment, an active internationalisation strategy and comprehensive support from the Welcome Centre, including assistance with non-academic matters related to their stay in the green and liveable city of Hannover. LUH is also part of the European university alliance EULiST – European Universities Linking Society and Technology, a network of ten partner universities across Europe that brings together teaching staff, students and researchers from these institutions.

LUH – study, teach and conduct research with enthusiasm, and contribute to addressing key challenges of the future!
