The Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media (HMTMH) is one of the most renowned artistic universities in Germany. Around 400 teachers – including numerous internationally renowned figures from the worlds of art, education and science – are involved in training some 1,500 students from all over the world. The balance between music, drama, media, education, and science, as well as a commitment to excellence in both elite and broad-based education, form the core of its identity. To this end, the HMTMH offers a diverse range of 33 degree programmes, supplemented by numerous master classes. In almost all areas, interdisciplinary work is carried out through joint artistic and scientific projects.

With up to 500 concerts, performances and other public events per year, HMTMH is one of the largest cultural institutions in Lower Saxony. Once founded as a conservatory, its history dates back to 1897. In 1978, HMTMH attained university status.
